The wonderful city of Melbourne is a melting pot of nations, cultures and culinary diversity. Once you get there you will easily become enchanted with its mysterious laneways paved with narrow cobblestone and vivid atmosphere created by street jazz performance. Buskers are not the only special thing about this city. Its restaurant scene will leave everyone speechless. Even for a Sydney girl like me, Melbourne is my favorite place to go when I feel like tasting delicious food. This culinary spot has something to offer up for everybody’s taste. The choice is versatile from burger joints to exclusive restaurants with world famous chefs, Melbourne has it all. Take away, Japanese and Indian restaurants, Australian cuisine, regional cuisine from Italy, you name it! Melbourne is the Australian food hotspot.
A Slice of Pizza, Please
+39 is the best place to eat pizza in Australia! Do not let the intimate atmosphere fool you, this place is brimming with tasty food prepared according to traditional Italian recipes. A rare Victorian machine will make you drift back to the old times and imagine you were somewhere out there on the Italian coast gazing in the sun. Their ciabatta is something you definitely need to taste once you arrive. Whenever I visit Melbourne I need to grab a slice of pizza here. Go there pronto!
Something Different, Something Lebanese
If you have had enough of same old food you eat every day and feel like grabbing a plate of something a bit more unusual, Agraba is all you need. Organic products guarantee that you will have a good time eating these tasty meals. The atmosphere is super cozy and it’s all about sharing and connecting with people. My tip is to go with a bunch of friends to enjoy the delicious Lebanese food. We are totally in love with Warak Arish, vegetables with rice wrapped in vine leaves.
Lamb Me Up Please!
Encore, the restaurant in Grand hotel Chancellor will provide you with marvelous meals that are bound to tickle your palate. Encore is great for both tourists and businessmen/women. I suggest that you visit it in the evening as I have noticed their dinner menu is impeccable. My two favorites have to be the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the jumbo pumpkin ravioli. The best I have ever tasted! One thing is certain, once you come here you will be coming back for more.
A Taste of China in Australia
The noodle and rice bar, Simply China Bar, is a place worth visiting in Melbourne. Locals just love it and so will you! Their service is impeccable and the pace will leave you amazed. In no time you will get the meal you ordered. What you need to try is Seafood Noodle Soup, so tasty, amazing and yet so healthy. Grab those chopsticks!
If you feel like tasting Japanese there is no better place than Chocolate Buddha. It’s as charming as its name. I would suggest that you visit it during lunch time and try Sashimi Don, fresh salmon and cucumber and lots of spices. Amazing and healthy, too!
Eat Like A King
Those of you who would like to taste Australian cuisine but feel there is no modern touch to it, will be thrilled to discover Kings Steak and Seafood Bar. When I go there with my partner I enjoy eating the seafood platter for two. The atmosphere is really romantic and it’s perfect for lovebirds who would like to be pampered like royals.
Once you step foot in Melbourne there’s something you should definitely do, visit the restaurant scene! The diversity of cuisines and dishes will leave you utterly amazed. Bon appetite!
